Apple pie is a dessert that has been made in our homes for a long time. At Ad-Morum, we would like to share our recipe for using it with extra virgin olive oil. You'll need some time to prepare it, but you'll be delighted with the result!
Ingredients for the crust
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup Picual extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup cold water
1 teaspoon salt
For the Filling
5-6 apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons Picual extra virgin olive oil
Instructions for the crust
In a bowl, mix the flour with the salt and add the extra virgin olive oil. Mix until crumbly. Then, gradually add water and form a dough, which you should roll out and place in a pie dish, covering it completely.
Instructions for the filling
Preheat the oven to 180°C and mix the apples with the sugar, cinnamon, and Picual olive oil from Jaén and add to the pie crust. You'll only have to bake it for 40 to 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
Thanks to this recipe with Picual olive oil, the base will be lighter and its flavor will be fresher, providing a fruity touch that perfectly complements the caramelized apples.
Tips: You can pre-bake the crust a bit before adding the filling by putting it in the oven at 180°C for about 10 minutes. Remember to prick the crust a little with a fork so it doesn't puff up. After this time, you can add the filling and put it back in the oven.
